Abuja Zahi's popular Next Cash and Carry supermarket, owned by former Anambra governor Peter Obi, is currently on fire.
Obi is also a former vice president candidate running for the Democratic Party as the banner in the 2019 general election.
Boxing Day's An Inferno caused chaos in the area as people were seen running away.
According to one supermarket employee, hell was caused by power surges.
It is said that it started on the first floor of the building around 8 am on Sunday morning.
One of them spoke to reporters, accusing the fire department of being late to the scene.
He said: “The fire started around 8 am. I called the fire department, but the firefighters did not arrive on time. We tried to put out the fire, but we couldn't find the fire engine keys in the supermarket. If they had arrived on time, the fire would not have started. The fire was caused by a power surge."
FCT Police Deputy Chief Ben Igwe said police were on the scene to keep the scene safe.
He added that he had barricaded hooligans from robbing the store.
Igwe said the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
FCT Fire Department, Federal Fire Department, Nigerian Naval Fire and Guard Brigade, and Julius Berger's fire engines are still attempting to extinguish the fire from the ground at the time of this report.
