Every new youth corpers have the ambition to save some money before their POP( passing out parade).
The following tips will help the incoming corp members on the strategy I used to save up to N264,000 for a year.
1. Talk to your LGI to make your PPA( post primary Assignment) close to NCCF family house.
I was very lucky my PPA was public school and it's was close to NCCF family house, in which I don't need to pay any transport fare. Out of the N33,000 I earned as my allawee, I pay N9000 monthly for food in the family house. The rest of the N24000 goes to my personal account.
2. Part time work
Since I determined to save lot of money before the expiration of my service year, I looked for teaching job from private school as part time teacher. Luckily for me I found one, the principal was desperate in need of a Corp member to teach in his school.
Firstly while negotiating the salary aspect, he said his going to pay me N5000 monthly and am to come twice a week, I resisted and placed it on N10,000 monthly as the minimum amount I can collect. After some few days he called me to start work that he had accepted the monthly payment.
3. Home tutor
I got another teaching job as a lesson teacher which the agreed monthly payment is N8000. In which i start by 4pm and close by 6pm.
. 4.Avoid buying expenses wears
I know the target I had, so any kind of expenses wears, chains etc wasn't in my mind. Avoid spending money on unnecessary things if you really want to save during your service year.
5. Avoid women
For guys avoid women, going after different women will make you spend lot of money just to have sex and fun with them. Just avoid them with all you can, if not all your stress and work will go for nothing and you won't have anything to show off after your service year.
Women are very deceiveful and trickish. Just avoid them like plague.
Finally.
I made N51,000 altogether every month and I save N22000 monthly.
At the end of my service year, I was able to boast of N264,000 in my personal saving.
